Nanami


Full Name : Nanami Kiryuu
Nickname: Miss Nanami

A Slow Burning Fuse, Hot Headed and Quick to Jump to Conclusions. Nanami becomes a member of the Student Council later in the game because her brother Touga sees her "potential". Leader of a high school click and sister to the student council president has its benefits. Students of Ohtori Academy love her and envy her. Yet, underneath all of her immature remarks and cruel pranks she just wants some attention.











Nanami plays an important role in the Utena Saga. Nanami is not present in the Manga, so instead of her being extremely cruel to Anthy (Rosebride) you have a random group of girls seeking revenge for Saionji. In the Movie, you see Nanami for only a split second... watch it again and see if you can find her. As for the TV Series, Nanami at first appears to be cruel and uncaring, lashing out at Utena & Anthy whenever she gets the chance. Although later on we see her face some interesting issues of her own which might change her attitude.

Nanami is 14, and throughout the TV series we get to see her personality change more and become more vulnerable. One of the re-accruing mysteries in the TV series is Nanami's Fascination with Touga. Is she obsessed? Does she want to be his girlfriend? As the series continues those questions are brought up and spun around... we may never know.
