A Beautiful Rose, brave and noble. A prince long ago saved Utena's life and gave her the "Rose Seal", now she is able to compete in the duels with the Student Council. Utena is admired by the students of Ohtori Academy for her individuality and strength. Yet, underneath Utena's tomboyish ways she's just a normal girl with a goal, to become a prince.

Because Utena is the star of the Utena Saga her role never changes. In the Manga she is portrayed as being in love with Touga, which makes Jury furious. Then she falls for Akio, all the while looking for her prince. In the Movie, Utena's attitude is a bit harsher, although you also see a more flirty side of her as she delivers a line to Wakaba. As for the TV Series, Utena is a strong and noble character, out to protect her princess Anthy. She overcomes many obstacles and tries to help everyone in the process.

Utena is 14, and throughout the TV series we get to see her grow stronger and more self-aware. One of the re-accruing mysteries in the TV series is Utena's Prince. Who is he? How did she get the rose seal? As the series continues those questions are answered, with a great twist.
